Kent State University (KSU) ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2453 เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยวิจัยของรัฐในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของรัฐ Ohio มหาวิทยาลัยยังมีวิทยาเขตระดับภูมิภาคเจ็ดแห่งในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของรัฐ Ohio และสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกเพิ่มเติมในภูมิภาคและในต่างประเทศ ปัจจุบันมหาวิทยาลัยมีจำนวนนักศึกษามากกว่า 38,000 คนจากหลากหลายประเทศทั่วโลก

วิทยาเขตหลัก (Kent Campus) มีสถาปัตยกรรมคลาสสิกและพื้นที่เปิดโล่งสีเขียวมากมาย แม้จะให้ความรู้สึกแบบชนบท แต่ก็ตั้งอยู่ใกล้กับเขตมหานครที่พลุกพล่าน เช่น Cleveland และ Youngstown ทำให้นักศึกษาสามารถเยี่ยมชมพิพิธภัณฑ์และร้านอาหารได้อย่างง่ายดาย รวมทั้งฝึกงานกับบริษัทต่างๆ
